IMPACT SCREENINGS
IMPACT CAMPAIGN
3,500 murders of LGBTIQ+ people between 2014 and 2020 – violence against LGTBIQ+ people is an emergency in Latin America and the Caribbean. Thousands of them are victims for reasons related to prejudice against their sexual orientation or gender identity.
Although in all the countries of the region the situation is dramatic, there are some that are worse: Colombia, Mexico and Honduras concentrated 89% of the total number of victims in 2020.
In Colombia, one LGBTIQ+ person is murdered every week, according to the Ombudsman’s report that analyzes data from 2021 and 2022. In addition, cases of non-lethal violence due to prejudice have increased. The places where these crimes were most reported are in the Caribbean departments – exactly where the story of the movie I’M CRIS FROM TIERRA BOMBA begins.
Violence because of prejudice is a form of gender-based violence driven by the desire to punish those seen as defying social norms of gender and sexuality – it affects thousands of LGBTIQ+ people throughout Latin America.
The film I’M CRIS FROM TIERRA BOMBA draws attention to the vulnerability of LGBTIQ+ people through Cristian’s story with the film and an impact campaign.
COLOMBIAN FILM SEASON 2024

The Colombian Film Season 2024 (Temporada de Cine Colombiano 2024), an initiative led by Proimágenes Colombia and the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Knowledge, aims to bring national cinema to all corners of the country. In 2024, with the Caribbean as the guest region, the film “Soy Cris de Tierra Bomba”, directed by Josephine Landertinger Forero, was shown in three special screenings in Bocachica (Tierra Bomba Island, Bolivar), Mahates (Bolivar) and Santa Marta (Magdalena).
Every year, Proimágenes Colombia organizes a series of screenings of Colombian films to bring national cinema to different regions of the country. In 2024, the Caribbean region is the highlight, with a special focus on special screenings that include eight national films released in 2023 and 2024. Among them, in addition to “Soy Cris de Tierra Bomba”, there are productions such as “Puentes en el mar” by Patricia Ayala Ruiz and “Sara, Neyda, Tomasa y las otras” by Lizette Lemoine. There are six films directed by talented women out of the eight selected. The 2024 Colombian Film Season is a transcendental cultural event that celebrates the richness and diversity of Colombian cinema, positioning it as an important reference both nationally and internationally.
